Document the exact solvent type and volume used for reconstitution, the resulting concentration, the date of reconstitution, and the storage conditions used afterward. This single record often explains inconsistencies between experiments that otherwise appear to use “the same” reagent.
Storage and Handling Logs
For longer-running studies, maintaining a simple log of freeze-thaw cycles, temperature excursions, and time-in-solution for each working aliquot can be the difference between catching a degradation-related anomaly early and spending weeks troubleshooting a phantom variable.
Environmental Conditions
Ambient lab temperature and humidity at the time of reconstitution and assay can matter more than researchers often assume, particularly for peptides with known sensitivity to oxidation — recording these conditions costs little and can save significant troubleshooting time later.
